IdeaVault (“IdeaVault,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, stored, and handled when you use the IdeaVault mobile application (the “App”).

By using IdeaVault, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use IdeaVault, we may collect the following types of information.

Account Information

If you create an account or use account-based features, we may collect:

  • User ID or account identifier
  • Authentication-related information necessary to maintain your account and sign you in

We do not intentionally store your account password in readable form. Authentication services are handled through our backend service provider.

User-Generated Content

IdeaVault is designed to help you capture, organize, and develop ideas. Information you create or submit may include:

  • Idea titles
  • Idea descriptions and text
  • Categories
  • Tags
  • Subtopics
  • Checklist items
  • Comments
  • Shared content
  • Other content you choose to enter into the App

Some information may be stored locally on your device, while features that require syncing, accounts, sharing, collaboration, or remote access may transmit and store information using our backend infrastructure.

Sharing and Collaboration Information

If you use sharing or collaboration features, we may process information such as:

  • Email addresses used for invitations
  • User identifiers
  • Shared idea identifiers
  • Comments and collaboration content
  • Information necessary to manage access to shared content

Content you intentionally share may be visible to the people with whom you choose to share it.

Customer Support Information

If you contact us for help or support, we may collect:

  • The content of your message
  • Information you voluntarily provide about an issue
  • Other information reasonably necessary to respond to your request

Notifications and Reminders

If you enable notifications or reminders, IdeaVault may process information necessary to schedule or deliver those notifications.

You can manage notification permissions through your device settings.

We do not use your private ideas for advertising.

3. How Information Is Stored

IdeaVault may use a combination of local device storage and remote backend storage, depending on the feature being used.

Remote backend and authentication functionality is provided through Supabase. Information transmitted to backend services may be processed and stored through Supabase infrastructure.

We take reasonable measures designed to protect information, but no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share or process information in limited circumstances, including:

  • Service providers: With providers that help operate the App, such as backend hosting, database, authentication, and infrastructure providers.
  • User-directed sharing: When you intentionally share an idea, invite another person, or use collaboration features.
  • Legal requirements: When disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, legal process, or valid governmental requests.
  • Safety and security: When reasonably necessary to protect the rights, security, and integrity of IdeaVault, our users, or others.
  • Business changes: If the App or its assets are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or similar transaction, subject to applicable law.

5. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the App and requested features
  • Maintain user accounts
  • Support sharing and collaboration
  • Fulfill legitimate operational needs
  • Resolve disputes
  • Enforce agreements
  • Meet legal obligations

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and how it is used.

When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we may delete or anonymize it, subject to legal, security, backup, and technical requirements.

If IdeaVault provides an in-app account deletion option, you may use that feature to request deletion of your account.

Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary for legal obligations, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, backups, or other legitimate purposes permitted by applicable law.

8. Children’s Privacy

IdeaVault is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

9. International Data Processing

Your information may be processed or stored in countries other than the country where you live. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Where required by applicable law, we take reasonable steps regarding the handling and transfer of personal information.

10. Third-Party Services

IdeaVault may rely on third-party service providers to operate certain functionality.

These providers may process information according to their own terms and privacy policies. Our current backend infrastructure includes Supabase for functionality such as database storage and authentication.

We encourage users to review applicable third-party privacy policies.

11. No Sale of Personal Information

IdeaVault does not sell your personal information.

We do not sell your private ideas, notes, comments, or account information to advertisers or data brokers.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes to IdeaVault features
  • Changes to service providers
  • Legal or regulatory requirements
  • Changes to our privacy practices

When changes are made, we may update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.

Your continued use of the App after an updated policy becomes effective may be subject to the updated Privacy Policy.
